Bible&Beer is a space where we gather over food and drink to speak honestly about the questions shaping our lives. The themes grow out of real experiences and conversations rather than neat answers. Bible and beer may sound like an odd pairing, but that tension is deliberate. It reflects our desire to let faith engage real life, with all its complexity, doubt, and depth.
This conversation takes place in that stretch of the year when the festive rush has passed. After weeks of togetherness, many people notice the loneliness more clearly, not less. As MSSP Oratory Youth, we are taking the theme of community seriously this year, and this Bible&Beer sits within that wider journey of asking what genuine belonging actually looks like.
Under the theme Together But Alone, we will explore why loneliness can persist even within relationships, communities, and faith spaces. Are we expecting too much from relationships, especially romantic ones, asking them to carry needs they were never meant to hold? Where do we turn when loneliness surfaces, faith, therapy, social media, or withdrawal? We will also reflect on the inner barriers to connection, the parts we hide, the fear of honesty, and how we interpret relational disappointment. Is loneliness simply something to fix, or does it point to a deeper human longing that no relationship can fully satisfy?
The panel brings together voices from social wellbeing, lived experience, and pastoral ministry. Dr Maria Pisani, Dr Natalie Kenely, and Fr Martin Cilia MSSP will help guide a conversation that is thoughtful, grounded, and real.
If you are curious, unsettled, or simply interested in a good conversation in good company, you are very welcome.
