Testimonies

Marguerite Agius

I had been searching for a place where I could deepen my faith in a community for a number years but when I came to the MSSP Oratory I felt I had found the place!

My husband and I had started attending Sunday 10 o’clock Mass at the MSSP Oratory and we immediately noticed that this was a special church and community. We were welcomed at the door with a smile and everyone was very friendly exchanging smiles and nods.   We felt included right away without reservation, without hesitations…open arms like Christ would have done.  I could see that I could feel comfortable again.  However, I wasn’t quite there yet, I felt I needed something more to feel included. I was going through a time of personal spiritual draught but the Eucharistic celebration on Sundays was an oasis for me. It wasn’t long after, that I decided to attend the daily Mass. I instantly felt INCLUDED.  I was taking part in something greater than myself! The daily encounters with familiar faces made me feel part of the community. A community of ‘strangers’ but we all had the same common aim – to deepen our faith and to live our Christianity in our daily lives. The daily sharing of the Word and the way that the MSSP Fathers shared their spirituality was something that left me in awe and hungry for more of these encounters.

The presence of each person in this growing community makes a difference in our lives… a comfort to us, a feeling of being INCLUDED in a greater purpose.

About a year later, Fr Martin invited us to join the MSSP Lay Community. It was what I was longing for. The MSSP community is part of our home now…a comfort knowing we are part of something which is alive and growing. A community with its main aim is to live Christianity in our daily lives: at home with our families, at work, with the people we encounter on a daily basis. We can only do so by feeding our souls by attending Saturday Eucharist, the monthly Catechesis, Lectio Divina, adorations, courses, retreats and through reaching out to others.

The presence of each person in this growing community makes a difference in our lives… a comfort to us, a feeling of being INCLUDED in a greater purpose.
